Hi,

We have a coldfusion server and DB server. As the DB server is out of life
support. We are currently migrating the DB server only. Whatever the changes
(Firewall port, creating database and migrating) on the existing DB server have
been done in the new DB server. When I tried to establish the connection using
ODBC connection the database is failing to connection.

Note: We provide the same username and password which we are able to connect
to SQL server.

Environment:
Coldfusion version 5, windows 2000 OS.
Old DB - SQL server 2000 with windows 2000 OS.
New DB - SQL server 2005 with windows 2003 OS.

Problem:
When we are connecting the new DB server. It is failing and when we check the
network logs it is connecting to a different port. Those port are related to
NetBios packets (for DNS name resolution) to the New DB server.

When we check the traffic on existing DB server it goes through specific port.
Can anyone please help me?

Thanks,
Satheesh.:confused;

I do hope that you are using appropriate DB driver...
So, your are able to connect to DBserver1, but NOT bale to connect to
DBserver2: did you check the usual?
Subnets? Can you ping both servers from CF server directly? Can you
telnet to both?

So, are you seeing DNS queries, or attempts to connect (open
persistent connection) to that port?
