Hi
I have a coldfusion application server using sql 2000 database on a high end
server. I have now had a couple of logs at random times saying:
The ColdFusion MX Application Server service for the "default" server is
restarting.
I have checked all other logs and can find nothing that might have caused
this. It was off only briefly and seems it didnt give any users a problem but
im a little concerned.
Any ideas anyone?

Hi Joe,
this may well not apply to you, but I know of a few issues occurring if you don't have SQL SP3 installed.

Hey Joe, I am fighting with a random restart problem on Redhat Linux 7.3 that
generates the same error you have. Does it about 8-10 times a day never the
same time twice. Looking at the logs I would say mine has been doing it since
last september. You are correct it does restart fast. About 20-30 sec. on our
box. But we are finding users are starting to complain now that we have more
CFMX dependent sites. I hope a MM person may comment on this. I will let you
know if I get anywhere with mine. Samuel Conlogue Infusion Studios, Inc.

Hi Joe
I have the same problem.
I work with ColdFusion 5 on Windows server2003 and SQL2000 (even if SQL
server it's an another server in the server farm)
In some applications written in CF, I receive some error or warning messages
and some times CF server shut down without a reason.
Can I find, if there is, an application that cause these problems and break
the CF service?
Let me know if there is a solutions!
Thank you

Well hey I'll throw in my 2 cents also seeing no seems to care on macromedias
site. I have all upadates on my coldfusion MX server slq 2000 and windows 2000
and every once in while it dies ... it seems under heavy load also.. now let me
explain heavy load I am only taling 50 people at a time.. I know this because
they use it in a classroom environment. I suspect bad code from my designers by
how can we protect ourselves from bad code taking down a server.. I have set
my memoery for the jrun as high as i can, limited the amount of requests done
at one time, and set the time out for slow pages to like 15 seconds. So any
clues here.

Hi folks, I am having a similar problem. I am running a website on a w2k box
with IIS 5.0 with a access database on the same box, all was fine for years
untill we upgraded Coldfusion MX from 6.0 to 6.1. Now, the HTTP service dies at
least twice per day
and have to be manually restarted.
Event log errors such as those below are recorded:
Application log
event ID 263, source: coldfusion MX odbc
Coldfusion MX application server killed process with PID 776
System log
Event ID 7024, source: service control manager
cold fusion MX application server service terminated with service specific
error 2
these events were logged at about the same that the HTTP service stopped.
the site takes about 500 hits per day.
Any an all assistance and recommendations would be appreciated
Very anxious
Thank you
