I've downloaded 7.01 to the server, but when I click on the file (named
coldfusion-70-updater-win.exe), the installer window opens for a split second,
but the installation never begins.  So, I thought I'd try going to 7.02.  I
downloaded 7.02 (named coldfusion-70-updater2-win.exe).  The installer launces,
asks a few questions, but then says I can't upgrade, because it isn't 7.01.
ARGH.

How do I get upgraded from 7 to 7.01?

You cannot upgrade to 7.0.2 from 7.0 without 7.0.1 but I think you already realize that. Now to the question of why 7.0.1 fails... is this Windows 2003 machine?

Try step 2 from this technote. DEP could be an issue in your case.

Glad you said step two, because I'm not sure how to do step 1.  Unfortunately,
I completed step two, rebooted, and double clicked the .exe, and it didn't
start the install.  Instead if flashed on the screen for a split second, just
like before.  Argh.... :-(

One other test - try renaming your exe file to .zip file. And then extract it. See if it will give you an error message of any sort.

Well, I renamed it to .zip, and tried to open, and said it was corrupt.  So, I
renamed it back to .exe.  Double clicked on it, and BOOM, the installer
launched!  Crazy crazy crazy!!!   But hey, looks like it's working.  Thanks for
the advice!  :-)

Hm, weird. I was looking for that file corrupt error message and would then reccomend to download it again. But hey, if it works, then I guess there is no need to do that now.

I am experiencing the same problem.  Renaming the file and then back again
didn't help me unfortunately.  I have downloaded the file 3 times to 2
different servers and it always does the same thing.  It does give the corrupt
file message when it is named .zip and won't open.  DEP was the first thing I
checked.  I am beginning to think the file is just bad.

Any more ideas?

jeastterly, please email me at dandreye@adobe.com and I will send you an FTP link to the file.

This problem seems to be very common and we are working to see why this is
happening. We will be checking insaller files to make sure that all servers
have proper and uncorrupt files. Meanwhile, if you do experience this isse,
please email me for FTP link.
