Hello,

I am having trouble after the install trying to connect with my external web
server. From what I have read, you can use the web server config tool but when
I try to use it, it just gives me a blank window and nothing to do. Here is my
setup:
1 server running coldfusionMX 6.1 standard
1 server running Win2k server w/IIS 5.0 as my web server

Need to link them together. Thanks for any advice

I think I lost my previous post in limbo.

Anyway, are you installing CFMX on your Windows 2000 server or on a separate
machine? If you are, I don't think that will work. You can't install CFMX on
one machine and then try to run cfml pages from another.

Thanks for the post. That is correct. I have a web server running IIS5 and
win2k server and we had just bought CFMX and put on a seperate server thinking
that I would run it like that. But your telling me no. Can CFMX be in a
production environment? Should I install CFMX on my production web server?
Thanks for any advice.

Can CFMX be in a production environment?

CFMX is just like any other server such as ASP, PHP, PERL, etc... It can most
definitely be used in production. However, you have to install it on the actual
web server to get it to work.  It's made to run along side your current
webserver, which for you is IIS.

Just install it on the machine with IIS, restart it and you'll be running cfml
templates in no time.

That would explain why I cant get them to talk. Everything that I have read
states that you can implement this on seperate servers. I am confused. I had
bought a seperate server just for this. Thanks for the reply

Yeah, the documentation can be easily confusing at times. However, just install
it on the server and everything should work fine.

I enjoy helping people out getting started with CFML. It's an easy language to
learn and just as powerful as any web application language out there. Good luck
with it all and enjoy.
