Hi guys,
I've just been asked to create an online gambling game in Flash.
And to be honest, i don't know where to start and can't find much (if any)
info out there.

Is there a standard proven direction to go in, certain technologies that work
best for this type of project.
Known issues with creating one (i don't expect a prewritten tutorial but a few
strong pointers would be great!)

PC, Flash 8 Pro (or above), Using flash player 9.

cheers, Rich

what gambling game?  and does any data need to be stored anywhere after a user plays?

Real money game
But the game will be of the style of Poker / Roulette so:
online
multiplayer - at different locations
realtime game
recording every user interaction back to the server - click, bet etc.

does that help?

that helps.  you shouldn't be doing this.

yup, sorry should have stated that i'm in the UK where this law doesn't apply and probably isn't going to come to Europe anytime soon.

so with that in mind any advice?

you should recognize that you're probably not qualified to handle this project.
and the person that asked you to do this apparently didn't exercise much
diligence in selecting you for this project.

having expertise in flash is the least of the requirements for this project.
you need to have expertise in secure online transactions and you should have
experience with previous gaming projects.

you have a major problem to secure your game(s) against cheating.  especially
because cheating is so easy in multiplayer games like poker.
